Novel Technology to Capture Objective Data from Patients’ Recovery from Laparoscopic Endometriosis Surgery

Study ObjectiveTo assess the feasibility of a noncontact radio sensor as an objective measurement tool to study postoperative recovery from endometriosis surgery.DesignProspective cohort pilot study.SettingCenter for minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at academically affiliated community hospital in conjunction with in-home monitoring.PatientsPatients aged above 18 years who sleep independently and were scheduled have laparoscopy diagnosis treatment suspected endometriosis.InterventionsA wireless, sensor, Emerald, was installed subjects’ home used capture physiologic signals without body contact. The device captured data about patients’ movement their 5 weeks before approximately postoperatively. subjects concurrently asked complete daily pain assessment using numeric rating scale free text survey symptoms.Measurements Main ResultsThree women 23 39 mild moderate participated study. Emerald-derived wake times contextualized corroborated by select participant comments retrospective surveys.
